Symptom: (31) The EVF power cuts off. This is normal if the power save switch located on the side of the EVF is in the on position. Solution: This is a new feature on the CCD-TR3000. There is a reflection sensor inside the EVF that detects an object (Mainly your eye) that is 3.9 inches away or closer. This distance may be adjusted by the “Auto On” adjustment located on page 6-30 of the service manual. There has been several reported cases of customers assuming there was something wrong with their Camcorders. The purpose of this mode is to extend the battery life by turning the EVF off during times that the EVF is not being looked into. • If the power save switch is off, the EVF will be continuously on (regardless of looking into the EVF) • If the power save switch is on, the EVF will be on when looking into the EVF, and off when not looking into the EVF. • NOTE: Power save does not have an effect on the record or playback operation of the camera. Symptom: (**) The TK mechanism chassis kit #2 (sub-chassis) described in camera service bulletin # 417 no longer requires the LS guide roller (ref. 815). The roller has been replaced by a solid bushing pressed into the sub-chassis. Solution: When installing the kit, discard the original LS guide roller, and apply a small amount of grease on the bushing where it supports the LS-chassis. The grease should only be applied on the side of the bushing closest to the take-up side of the mechanism. Symptom: (**) This model was produced with 2 different CCD imagers. One is type MN37240FP (non-Sony) and the other is type ICX079AK-11 (made by Sony). Only the ICX079AK type is being supplied for service. The VC-177 board requires D1601 and R1603 to be mounted when used with an ICX079AK-11 imager. Also, certain Page F data must correspond with the particular type of imager being used. These considerations are explained on pages 35 and 41 through 45 in supplement # 1 of the service manual. Solution: Be sure to refer to the information in supplement # 1 when replacing the imager or the lens block assembly. The imager type can be determined by comparison to the illustration below. Symptom: (‘em) The T2 mechanism was made with 2 versions of FP-316 cable, LS chassis, and cassette compartment. Only the new versions of these parts are being supplied when the part numbers shown in the service manuals are ordered. There may be compatibility problems if any of these parts are replaced without considering the versions. If only the LS chassis needs to be replaced, the part received from the National Parts Center can be installed in either version of the mechanism without concern. Solution: When replacing the FP-316 cable or the cassette compartment, follow the rules shown below. 1-When installing a new FP-316 cable, the LS chassis and cassette compartment must both be the new type (see illustrations below for identifying old type/new type). If either of these parts are the old type, install the new type along with the new FP-316 cable. 2-When installing a new cassette compartment, the LS chassis must be the new type (the FP-316 cable can be the old type or the new type. See illustrations below for identifying old type/new type). If the LS chassis is the old type, install the new type along with the new cassette compartment. (Continued) Reference: Tech.
