Symptom: (1118) The monitor Universal Serial Bus, USB Hub is used with a Macintosh G4 computer connecting a USB Keyboard. Symptom 1: The Power Switch function on the USB Keyboard does not work. Symptom 2: The Mac G4 can not be turned Off. It has repeated restarts. The computer power is not turned off because the Macintosh G4 uses non-standard USB signal parameters. The Macintosh system detects the D+ line voltage of the USB after the power is turned off. The D+ Line Voltage levels during Power Turn Off condition is not a defined USB standard specification. The power will be turned ON when the voltage reaches approx. 0.6V. Some USB Hubs take time for the D+ line voltage to drop below 0.6V or the voltage does not drop completely. The Mac detects this voltage and restarts. This is not the fault of the USB Hub. Solution: If the customer complains of these symptoms, then please advise that the problem is caused by the Macintosh G4 non-standard USB operation. Symptom 1: This condition is caused by Mac G4 non-standard USB operation and cannot be compensated by the Monitor USB Hub. Symptom 2: This condition is caused by Mac G4 non-standard USB operation. It can be compensated by the following countermeasure applied to the monitor at customer cost. The following procedure is recommended for application only at the customer insistence. The customer will be charged for normal Out of Warranty Parts and Labor. Replacement of the parts shown below will add a resistor for discharging the +3.3 V line of the US board. This will speed up the D+ line voltage drop. The following part is needed to complete the countermeasure on the monitor US Board. 1. Access the US Board. 2. Remove capacitor C2902.
