SOLUTION Follow the outlined procedure below for upgrading to the latest software version, using the attachment to Technical Bulletin 08TV066. 1. Memory Stick Formatting 1-1. Take a Memory Stick of at least 16 MB (128 MB recommended). 1-2. Format the Memory Stick using a Memory Stick formatter. A special program can be downloaded from: http://support.sony-europe.com/memstick/downloads/downloads_ms.asp?l=en&f=MSFRM#disc. NOTE: Windows formatters are not supported. 2. Update of MS DL Digital, VCTP, NVM VCTP & Verd data 2-1. Unzip the update file “MSImage_EG1L_PKGxxxxCE_BCN_VC.zip” attached to Technical Bulletin 08TV066. 2-2. Copy the “polo_proto1” folder into the root of your MS. 2-3. Switch off the TV using the [Power] key. Do not use the [Standby] key on the remote commander! 2-4. Insert the Memory Stick. 2-5. Switch on the TV using the [Power] key. 2-6. The “Digital Micro” will be updated. No download message appears. Only the green LED is ON. 2-7. When finished, the VCTP, NVM VCTP & Verd update will start. An “UPDATE START” message appears. If the update process does not start (no LEDs activity, see below note), go directly to “3. TT number application”. NOTE: The “UPDATE START” message does not appear if first the Power menu is shown. In that case it is necessary to monitor the LED activity. => If the amber LED blinks and the red LED is ON, this means that the update process has started. => If no LED activity after 3 minutes (except for green LED), this means the update has not started. Sony Europe (Belgium) NV Customer Satisfaction Europe Quality & Service Engineering 1 / 3 2 / 3 08TV065 2-8. After a few seconds the “Update Start” message will disappear and the update will start. 2-9. During the MS download, the left amber LED will blink, while the centre LED is red and fix. 2-10. When the update process has finished, the TV set reboots. Wait for about 3 minutes while the green LED lights. 2-11. Skip the initial “Set-up” menu. When the digital OSD appears, the update process has finished. 2-12. Power OFF the TV. 2-13. Extract the Memory Stick. 2-14. Power ON the TV. 3. TT number application 3-1. Apply the TT number depending on the model, using the table below. Model TT number BGE board KDL-40Z4500 TT62 A-1579-116-A (BGE Complete) KDL-46Z4500 TT63 KDL-52Z4500 TT64 3-2. After completing the TT number, the TV automatically resets and all LEDs go ON. 08TV065 3 / 3 3-3. Check the model name by pressing the [Menu] button on the remote commander, and follow the three steps below. * 1: Select [Set-Up]. * 2: Select [Product Information]. * 3. Check the model name. If it is not correct, something is wrong. 3-4. Check whether the update has been performed correctly. Use the remote commander to enter the “Service” menu. In standby, press the following key sequence. 3-5. The menu below appears on the screen. Select [Product Version]. The example below is for PKG “1005”. 3-6.
